Top 5 Most Anticipated Marvel Movies

Things are looking up for people who enjoy the cinematic Marvel Universe. Now, are we looking at more sequels to the franchises that we know and love? Is Edgar Wright finally getting his latest Ant-Man script into production? Will Marvel present other famous characters like Black Panther in their own films?

These are the top 5 most eagerly awaited Marvel movies that are coming out in the next few years:

5. The Wolverine

“The Wolverine” is the sixth film to be released for the X-Men series. This movie features the title character of the comic book. James Mangold directs this film which has Hugh Jackman reprising his role as Logan. This will be the sixth time that Jackman has played as Logan/Wolverine if you count the cameo that he did in First Class, which is a break of a record set by none other than himself. There are a lot of stunning pictures, behind the scene videos and promos. You can expect a lot of action to come from this film. The plot finds Wolverine in Japan battling samurai and involves a love interest from the comic series.

4. Fantastic Four

In July of 2012, an announcement was made that Josh Trank, who was in talks beginning in the early part of the year, will be helming the reboot. Millar made an announcement that Michael Vaughn will be the producer. Seth Grahame-Smith is going to fine tune the screenplay. Sources report that they are going to take a grounded approach to this new superhero reboot. The story will be more oriented towards Science Fiction. They will also dig deeper into the mythology that is established in the comic books. Doctor Doom and Galactus were not the only villains featured in the comics. There were also alien races such as the Skrull and the Kree. Then you had the Negative Zone, which is an anti-matter universe. Fox will produce the upcoming movie and the series will be on a shared continuity with X-Men. However, it is still going to be in a separate universe from the one produced by Marvel Studios. The film is scheduled for a March 6 2015 release date.

3. Avengers 2

One highly anticipated and long awaited film is Marvel’s Avengers 2. This film will feature the superhero team known as the Avengers. Marvel Studios will produce it and Walt Disney will distribute it. This will be the twelfth film of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the anticipated follow up to the film released in 2012. Joss Whedon is the returning director. The screen play has been written by himself and Jon Favreau. Returning actors are Robert Downey Jr., Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Chris Evans, Damian Poitier and Samuel Jackson. Early buzz has Thanos as the villain.

2. Amazing Spider-Man 2


“The Amazing Spider-Man 2” is an action adventure film which is coming soon. This film will feature the Marvel Comics super hero Spider Man. Marc Webb is going to direct this film which is going to be released by Columbia Pictures. This will be a follow up to the 2012 movie “The Amazing Spider-Man.” The sequel to The Amazing Spider-Man was announced as early as 2011. James Vanderbilt was hired for the screenplay with Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci supplying the rewrites. The cast will include Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Jamie Foxx, Dane DeHann, Shailene Woodley, Colm Feore, Paul Giamatti Felicity Jones, Chris Cooper, and Sally Field. This film is slated for a May 2, 2014 release in 2D and 3D. So far we know Jamie Foxx will play Electro and Paul Giamatti will play the Rhino.

1.  X-Men: Days of Future Past

“X-Men: Days of Future Past” is another upcoming film in the X-Men series. This film is co-written, directed, and produced by Bryan Singer. This film features the characters that appear in the comic books published by Marvel. It is a big screen adaptation of the popular storyline released in 1981 “Days of Future Past”, created by Chris Claremont John Byrne. This will be Bryan Singer’s third X-Men film. His other films are “X-Men and “X2: X-Men United”. Vaughn is producing and co-writing this film. He has also directed and co-wrote X-Men: First Class, which depicts events that happen before the original trilogy. Days of Future Past will feature stars from both First Class, and the original trilogy. Returning cast members are Patrick Stewart, Ian Mckellan, Halle Berry, Anna Paquin, Ellen Page and Shawn Ashmore from the original trilogy. Cast members from First Class are James McAvoy, Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult and Michael Fassbender. Hugh Jackman will reprise his role as Wolverine. Hugh Jackman is the only cast member to have appeared in each film. Early buzz is the plot focusing on the X-Men in the future and will involve the Sentinals and Boliver Trask (supposedly played by Peter Dinklage of “Game of Thrones” fame).
