Everyone gets to a point during their low carb diet where they simply feel like throwing in the towel. Why let that be you? Instead, take notes and learn from others that have laid the path to a successful low carb diet before you,
with these top 5 low carb diet errors…
5. Eating Too Much
Calorie counting is banished from low carb diets, but that doesn’t mean you can throw caution to the wind when it comes to calorie consumption! The great thing about low carb eating is that our appetites are more suppressed, allowing us to eat fewer calories without getting hungry. Many people take this as a free ticket to eat MORE because they are cutting the carbs. This is crazy, you should eat when you are hungry, and only eat enough to quench your hunger. Don’t just eat more volume for the sake of it! Calories are calories. The more you shovel down, the fatter you’ll become, regardless of what diet plan you’re on!
4. Lack of Fiber
Eating enough vegetables and fruit go a long way towards making sure you are getting enough fiber in your diet. There are other low carb sources of fiber as well, and it’s important to know about them.
3. Not Enough Vegetables
Time and time again, people tell me they don’t feel good eating low carb, and it turns out they are eating almost no vegetables or fruit. This will fail you in the long term. You should be eating more vegetables than any other food! Fruit, too, especially fruit low in sugar, has its place in a complete (and healthy) low carb diet.
2. “I can’t do it, it’s not right for me” Mentality
There are many ways to launch your own successful low carb diet. So giving up on it after a few days is insanity. We all wants results fast, but the reality is that weight loss of any nature takes time. In fact, it could be a month before you even notice a consistent shift in your weight loss. That’s why so many people never lose weight – they think “It’s not working, so it’s not worth it”. The sad reality is, they were literally weeks from losing a waist size, but just slammed the door on their future slimming ability. But surely, they have another go in the future right? Well, yes and no. The problem is that when this happens, subconciously you are always going to have that doubt and negative expectation that you’ll never lose weight. So no matter what you try, you’ll never put your heart into it and always cut the plan short. A prime example of this is eating too little carbohydrate at first, suffering carb crash, and deciding low carb isn’t for you. This is a shame, when a simple adjustment can usually get you through the first week comfortably, to the great rewards at the end of it.
1. False Starts
Low carb diets are not complicated, but they may take a while to familiarize yourself with. However, if you think it means you can just eat meat all day (or other low carb myths) or if you don’t know where the carbs are hidden in certain foods, you’re setting yourself up for a miserable failure in your low carb diet. Do your research as much as possible.
